I have spent nearly 40 years as a touring lighting designer,
with occasional double duty as a backline tech.
During that time I have been lucky enough to collect a selection of guitars, which obviously
require setup and maintenance, plus the odd bit of customisation.
It made sense for me to learn how to undertake this myself.
Spending most of my time in the company of other touring guitar techs,
was too good an opportunity to miss.
Being able to pick up tips and tricks, from people who spend their whole lives making sure
guitars are show ready, provided a solid base from which to expand my knowledge.
Now that I have reduced the time spent as a touring LD, I have decided to put my guitar
knowledge to good use, and offer my services as a guitar tech.
Though I won’t be doing a neck reset on a vintage Martin any time soon !
